What we collect
Everything below is created by you using the app:
- Location — the path of a trip, only while you are tracking one.
- Photos and videos you capture or import, and the capture time and place attached to them.
- Audio from voice notes, and the text transcribed from it.
- Text you write — trip titles, notes, place logs.
- An account identifier from Firebase Authentication, plus your email address if you sign in with Google.
- Device and diagnostic data — a device identifier for syncing, and crash reports.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Location
MyTripStore records your path only while a trip is actively tracking, and you start and stop that yourself. Points are stored on your device first and uploaded when you finish or sync. Sampling is deliberately coarse to protect your battery.
Photos
Anything shown on a public share page is a re-encoded derivative, never your original file. That re-encode strips EXIF, so the GPS coordinates embedded by your camera are not published — even though the trip itself has a route.
Sharing
Trips are private by default. A share link has an unguessable address, can carry a password, can expire, and can be revoked at any time. A revoked, expired or wrong-password link is indistinguishable from one that never existed — we will not confirm to a stranger that a link is real. Publishing a trip as a blog is a separate, explicit action, and is the only thing that makes a page visible to search engines.
Your data
You can export everything you have stored from inside the app, as a file. You can also delete your account; there is a 30-day grace window during which you can cancel, after which the account and its content are permanently removed.
Voice notes
A voice note is recorded only while you hold or start a recording yourself; the app never listens in the background. Recordings are stored with the trip they belong to. When you ask for a transcript, the audio is sent to a transcription provider, converted to text, and the text is stored alongside the recording. Deleting the voice note deletes the transcript with it.
AI
Stories are generated from the notes, place logs and trip facts you recorded, and are validated against those facts before you see them. If a draft cannot be grounded in what you actually logged, MyTripStore falls back to a plain factual summary rather than publishing something invented.
Who else processes your data
MyTripStore runs on servers we operate, and uses a small number of providers to do specific jobs:
- Google Firebase — sign-in and account identity.
- AI providers (OpenAI, Groq, Anthropic) — generating stories and captions, and transcribing voice notes. Only the content needed for the request you asked for is sent.
- Sentry — crash and error reports, when enabled.
These providers process data on our behalf. We do not give anyone your trips for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
Your content is kept until you delete it or delete your account. Deleted items are removed permanently after a 30-day grace window, which exists so an accidental deletion can be undone. Guest accounts are the exception: signing out of one deletes it and its content immediately, with no grace window and no way to recover it.
Children
MyTripStore is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
